The cutters make slots straight, without chipping, cracks or fluffiness. Cutters are of high manufacturing accuracy (± 0.02 mm) and of increased resistance to wear. They are made of special tool steel and fit for regrinding. Operating conditions: the cutter is to be built into wood-processing equipment appropriate the standards of assurance of cutting wood machine-tools according to GOST 69-75. Radial run-out of the cutter placed on shaft (into the holder) of the machine tool is to be for 2 opposite teeth, max: 0.04 mm. End run-out of teeth side surface of cutter about an axis of shaft, max: 0.04 mm. Maximum frequency of cutter's rotation: 3100 min (-1). Speed of the feed: 0.1-0.3 m/min.

With the help of cutters, grooves are sawn in the fingerboard, into which the frets are then installed.
